About the event
The Rainier Valley Historical Society is thrilled to host author and music historian Peter Blecha at Black and Tan Hall for a deep dive into the Original Northwest Sound on Saturday, May 31, at 10 AM.
Long before grunge, Seattle’s music scene was shaped by raw R&B, garage rock, and soul. Blecha, a leading expert on Northwest music history, will share stories from his new book, Stomp and Shout: R&B and the Origins of Northwest Rock and Roll, connecting icons like Ray Charles, Quincy Jones, and Jimi Hendrix to the region’s rock & roll roots.
This is a free event, with a $5 donation encouraged for those who are able. Join us for a morning of history, music, and untold stories from the Pacific Northwest’s rich musical past! This event was made possible by Humanities Washington Speakers Bureau.
